Add and assign tasks

In a project's ToDo tab, click New Task (or + on a column), type a name and click Add task. Open the task to assign people, set a due date, priority and progress, and add files and comments.

Updated

Add a task

  1. 1Open a project and its ToDo tab.
  2. 2Click New Task in the toolbar, or New task (+) at the top of a column.
  3. 3Type the Task name. A date you type, like "Friday", becomes the due date, and @ mentions someone.
  4. 4Optionally add a description, a cover image, a file, an assignee or a due date with the icons under the name.
  5. 5Click Add task, or press Enter.
  • In List view, type in Type a task name... at the bottom of a list.
  • From anywhere: click Create at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Task.

Assign it and set the details

Click a task to open it. Under Details:

  • Due date: a day, and a time if you need one.
  • Repeat: Daily, Weekdays, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly.
  • Assigned to: click + to add one or more people.
  • Tags: sets the priority: Urgent, High, Medium or Low.
  • Progress: a slider from 0 to 100%.
  • Below them, Attachments (drop files or Upload) and Comments, where @ notifies people.

Move a task and mark it done

  • Drag a card from column to column. New projects start with To Do, In Progress and Completed.
  • A task is done when it's in Completed, when you tick the box next to its title, or when its progress reaches 100%. In List view, tick the box on the row.
  • Owners and Admins add columns with New column at the end of the board, and rename, recolour or delete them from a column's Options.

See all your tasks in one list

The Tasks page lists tasks from every project you're in. If it isn't in your sidebar, add it with Customize sidebar. Open Display to filter by Status, Due date (Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, Later, No date), Assignee and Project.

On the Dashboard, the Tasks widget shows your own work, and Add anything takes a task in plain words.

Delete a task

Right-click a card and choose Delete, or open the task, click More options and choose Delete task. Deleted tasks go to Trash, where you can restore them.

Subtasks and custom fields aren't in Workel yet (Add a property is marked Soon). Use the description's checklist for steps within a task.
