Switch from Microsoft Teams to Workel. Chat and calls, with the projects beside them.

Microsoft Teams is chat and meetings for companies that run on Microsoft 365. Workel is for small teams that want their projects, tasks, docs and files in the same app as the chat and calls.

Which one fits your team. An honest answer, both ways.

Pick Workel if

  • You want tasks in the same app as the chat: a board, a list and a calendar for every project
  • You want each project to have its own board, chat, docs and files
  • You don't run on Microsoft 365, and want one app the team can pick up in the browser or on Mac, Windows and Linux
  • You want an AI assistant that answers from your work, included with Team rather than sold as an add-on

Stay with Microsoft Teams if

  • You run big meetings: up to 300 people, for up to 30 hours
  • You host webinars, with registration and Q&A (Business Standard)
  • You need a phone system: Teams Phone adds calling, from $10 a person a month, paid yearly
  • You live in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and edit them together
  • Your company needs Microsoft's sign-in, security and compliance (Business Basic and up)

What Workel doesn't do yet: time tracking, rule-based automations, guest accounts for people outside your team, or phone apps (iOS and Android are coming soon).

Microsoft 365 Business Basic adds Planner, Teams channels, SharePoint and business email: $8.40 a person a month, or $7 billed yearly. Microsoft Teams's plans, prices and features were checked on 19 October 2026 on its own website (pricing, Teams Essentials, Business Basic, free plan, Planner in Teams, limits, Slack migration, Copilot) and may have changed since. Prices are a month, in US dollars. Workel's come from our pricing page.

Moving over from Microsoft Teams. Chats don't come across yet. Here's the plan.

Start fresh

  1. 1

Keep what you need: an admin can export chats and channel messages with Microsoft's free export tool (organizations of up to 500 people), and files download from SharePoint or OneDrive as a .zip.

  2. 2

Workel doesn't import Teams chats yet. Create your projects and channels in Workel, upload the files you still use, and invite your team.

  3. 3

Bring your projects over too: Workel imports from Asana, ClickUp, monday.com, Trello and Notion.

We do it for you

Or let us move it.

Years of history or a messy setup? Send us your Microsoft Teams export. We'll map it, run the move, and walk through the result with you before your team logs in, free.

Switching from Microsoft Teams? Straight answers, before you start.

For small teams that don't depend on Microsoft 365, often yes: Workel has team chat with channels and direct messages, video calls (groups on Max), and the tasks, docs, files and calendar Teams leaves to other apps. For large meetings, webinars, a phone system or Office documents, Teams is the better fit.

Not yet. Workel doesn't import Teams chats, so most of the move is starting your channels fresh and uploading the files you still use. Send us your export and we'll help you move.

Workel is free for up to 2 people, with no card needed. Pro is $8 a person a month ($7 billed yearly). Microsoft Teams's cheapest paid plan was Teams Essentials, $4 a person a month, billed yearly when we checked its pricing page on 19 October 2026. Teams Essentials doesn't include Planner or SharePoint; Microsoft 365 Business Basic, which does, is $8.40 a person a month ($7 billed yearly).
