Replace Slack and Trello with Workel. The chat and the boards, in one app.

Workel replaces Slack's team chat and Trello's boards with one app: a team of 10 pays $80 a month on Workel Pro, against $147.50 for Slack Pro and Trello Standard together (billed monthly, prices checked 19 October 2026).

Slack is where the team talks and Trello is where the cards move. Workel is for small teams that want both in one place, with a list and a calendar of the same tasks, docs, files and calls beside them.

What 10 people pay a month. Slack and Trello on their cheapest paid plans, and Workel.

Slack's plans, prices and features were checked on 19 October 2026 on its own website (Slack's pricing, slack plans and features, use huddles in slack, use lists in slack, guide to slack import and export tools) and may have changed since. Trello's plans, prices and features were checked on 19 October 2026 on its own website (Trello's pricing, workspace user limit, workspace calendar view, single board table view, atlassian intelligence features in trello) and may have changed since. Prices are a month, in US dollars. Workel's come from our pricing page.

Which one fits your team. An honest answer, both ways.

Pick Workel if

  • You want the conversation about a card next to the card: each project has its own chat beside its board
  • You want more than one view of the same tasks: board and list on every plan, a calendar from Pro
  • You write docs together and keep files in folders, inside the project they belong to
  • You want to bring your boards with you: Workel imports Trello's JSON export
  • You want video calls built in: one-to-one on every plan, groups on Max

Stay with them if

  • You want to pay nothing for chat, and 90 days of messages is enough: Slack's free plan keeps the last 90
  • You build on Power-Ups: Trello lists 234 integrations
  • You automate with built-in rules and buttons, on every plan
  • You catch to-dos from email, Slack or Teams in your Trello inbox
  • You want a bigger free plan: Trello's covers up to 10 people
  • You live in your apps: the Slack Marketplace has more than 2,600 of them
  • You share channels with other companies through Slack Connect (paid plans)
  • You share your screen in a huddle, and others can draw on it

What Workel doesn't do yet: time tracking, rule-based automations, guest accounts for people outside your team, or phone apps (iOS and Android are coming soon).

Moving over from Slack and Trello. Your Trello boards come with you. Slack messages don't yet.

Do it yourself

  1. 1

In Trello, open the board menu, choose Print, export, and share, then Export as JSON.

  2. 2

In Workel, open Settings, then Import / export, choose Trello and drop the file in.

  3. 3

Pick the project it lands in. Trello's lists become board columns, and archived cards import as finished. Repeat for each board you still use.

  4. 4

Keep what you need from Slack: an owner or admin can export public channels to a file. Private channels and direct messages need Business+ or Enterprise.

  5. 5

Workel doesn't import Slack messages yet. Create your channels in Workel and invite your team; Slack can stay open to look things up while you settle in.

We do it for you

Or let us move it.

Years of history or a messy setup? Send us your Slack and Trello exports. We'll map it, run the move, and walk through the result with you before your team logs in, free.

Switching from Slack and Trello? Straight answers, before you start.

For many small teams, yes. Workel has team chat with channels and direct messages, and boards you can also see as a list or a calendar, with docs, files in folders, a shared calendar and video calls in the same app. If you depend on Slack's app marketplace or Trello's Power-Ups and rules, keep them.

Workel is free for up to 2 people, with no card needed. Pro is $8 a person a month ($7 billed yearly). For 10 people that's $80 a month ($70 billed yearly). Slack's cheapest paid plan was Pro, $8.75 a person a month ($7.25 billed yearly) when we checked its pricing page on 19 October 2026. Trello's cheapest paid plan was Standard, $6 a person a month ($5 billed yearly) when we checked its pricing page on 19 October 2026. Together that's $147.50 a month for 10 people ($122.50 billed yearly). Both have bigger free plans than Workel's: Slack's keeps 90 days of messages and Trello's covers up to 10 people.

Trello boards, yes: export each board as JSON and import it under Settings, Import / export. Lists become board columns, and archived cards import as finished. Slack messages, not yet: you start your channels fresh. Send us your exports and we'll help you move.

Not the same way. Workel has quote replies, reactions, @mentions, pinned messages and voice notes, but no separate thread panel, and chat search finds conversations and their latest message: older messages aren't searchable yet. If your team lives in threads, try Workel on a real project before you switch.

No. Workel has no rule-based automations or add-on marketplace. If your boards run on Butler rules or Power-Ups, Trello is the better fit.
