Replace Slack and Asana with Workel. The chat and the projects, in one app.

Workel replaces Slack's team chat and Asana's projects and tasks with one app: a team of 10 pays $80 a month on Workel Pro, against $222.40 for Slack Pro and Asana Starter together (billed monthly, prices checked 19 October 2026).

Slack is where the team talks and Asana is where the work is planned. Workel is for small teams that want both in one place, with docs, files, a calendar and calls beside them, and one bill.

Slack's plans, prices and features were checked on 19 October 2026 on its own website (Slack's pricing, slack plans and features, use huddles in slack, use lists in slack, guide to slack import and export tools) and may have changed since. Asana's plans, prices and features were checked on 19 October 2026 on its own website (Asana's pricing, messages, pages in asana, csv importer) and may have changed since. Prices are a month, in US dollars. Workel's come from our pricing page.

Which one fits your team. An honest answer, both ways.

Pick Workel if

  • You're tired of copying a decision from a Slack channel into an Asana task: in Workel the project's chat sits next to its board
  • You want each project to have its own board, list, calendar, chat, docs and files
  • You want one bill: Pro is $8 a person a month ($7 billed yearly), for chat and projects together
  • You want to bring your Asana projects with you: Workel imports Asana's CSV export
  • You want video calls built in: one-to-one on every plan, groups on Max

Stay with them if

  • You live in your apps: the Slack Marketplace has more than 2,600 of them
  • You share channels with other companies through Slack Connect (paid plans)
  • You share your screen in a huddle, and others can draw on it
  • You run on rules: when a task changes, Asana acts for you, even in Slack, Gmail or Jira (Starter and up)
  • You plan on a timeline, a Gantt chart with task dependencies (Starter and up)
  • You set goals and watch the health of many projects at once in portfolios (Advanced and up)

What Workel doesn't do yet: time tracking, rule-based automations, guest accounts for people outside your team, or phone apps (iOS and Android are coming soon).

Moving over from Slack and Asana. Your Asana projects come with you. Slack messages don't yet.

Do it yourself

  1. 1

In Asana, open a project, click the arrow next to its name and choose Export/Print, then CSV.

  2. 2

In Workel, open Settings, then Import / export, choose Asana and drop the file in.

  3. 3

Pick the project it lands in. Asana's sections become board columns, and people are matched to your teammates by email. Repeat for each project you still use.

  4. 4

Keep what you need from Slack: an owner or admin can export public channels to a file. Private channels and direct messages need Business+ or Enterprise.

  5. 5

Workel doesn't import Slack messages yet. Create your channels in Workel and invite your team; Slack can stay open to look things up while you settle in.

We do it for you

Or let us move it.

Years of history or a messy setup? Send us your Slack and Asana exports. We'll map it, run the move, and walk through the result with you before your team logs in, free.

Switching from Slack and Asana? Straight answers, before you start.

For many small teams, yes. Workel has team chat with channels and direct messages, and projects you can see as a board, a list or a calendar, with docs, files in folders, a shared calendar and video calls in the same app. If you depend on Slack's app marketplace, shared channels with other companies, or Asana's rules, timelines and portfolios, keep them.

Workel is free for up to 2 people, with no card needed. Pro is $8 a person a month ($7 billed yearly). For 10 people that's $80 a month ($70 billed yearly). Slack's cheapest paid plan was Pro, $8.75 a person a month ($7.25 billed yearly) when we checked its pricing page on 19 October 2026. Asana's cheapest paid plan was Starter, $13.49 a person a month ($10.99 billed yearly) when we checked its pricing page on 19 October 2026. Together that's $222.40 a month for 10 people ($182.40 billed yearly). Group calls need Max ($12 a person a month), and Team is $99 a month for everyone, with the AI assistant.

Asana projects, yes: export each project as a CSV and import it under Settings, Import / export. Sections become board columns, and tasks keep their descriptions, due dates and assignees. Slack messages, not yet: you start your channels fresh. Send us your exports and we'll help you move.

Not the same way. Workel has quote replies, reactions, @mentions, pinned messages and voice notes, but no separate thread panel, and chat search finds conversations and their latest message: older messages aren't searchable yet. If your team lives in threads, try Workel on a real project before you switch.

No. Workel has no rule-based automations, goals or portfolios. If your team plans around those, Asana is the better fit.
